            Landscape Advisory Council:

                        Moonflower Garden Club – Ellie Furry, Tracey Lea-Dorsey, Master Gardener - Nancy Bell – Gateway Garden Center, and

                        Landscape Sponsor Representative – Clyde Roberts                       

Mission Statement:            

            To enhance and perpetuate the Hockessin community landscape consistent with the village character of Hockessin.

            To promote a coordinated landscape vision using materials that will protect and compliment our native flora. 

Duties:           

            Form a Landscape Advisory Committee from local garden organizations.

                        Meet quarterly to discuss Hockessin landscape matters.

                        Host two Landscape Maintenance Sponsors meetings/year. (May be combined with two of the quarterly Committee meetings.)

                        Suggestion: Winter and Summer meetings to discuss sponsor’s maintenance plans, plant replacements, mulch,

                         pruning practices, etc.           

            Serve as advisors for those who plan, install and maintain the Hockessin Village landscape areas.  

            Conduct an annual review of community landscaping.                       

            Report and submit recommendations to the HPP Board of Directors for appropriate action.                         

Guidelines:           

            Use low maintenance plants with multi-season interest

            Use native and environmentally friendly (drought-tolerant, salt-spray tolerant) plants

            Avoid invasive plants

            Avoid creation of monoculture areas

            Evaluate plants allowing for visibility of cars, bikes, pedestrians, animals, traffic signals.
